Motivated by Love

Many things motivate people. Zig Ziglar tells the following story.
A young man was dating a beautiful girl, but the only way to reach her was to go through a pasture. In that pasture lived a 1200 lb. bull, very mean and dangerous. Yet the young man was committed to seeing his girl friend.

So he slipped through the fence quietly and began to cross the pasture, hoping the bull would not see him. Unfortunately, he did and came racing toward the hapless suitor. He was too deep into the pasture to make it back to the fenceline. There was but one hope, a single tree in the middle of the pasture. In desperation he headed toward it.

As he came near he saw that there was but one branch he had any hope of reaching before the bull reached him with his horrid horns. At the very last moment he took a running leap for the branch, 22 feet above—and missed it. . . But he caught it on the way down!

What motivates you? We who follow and believe in Jesus are motivated by His love, the love that sent Him to the cross. That sacrifice was accepted by the eternal Father as He raised His Son from the dead on the third day. It is this love that moves and motivates us to share the story of Christ, to care for the weak and wounded and to devote ourselves to caring as we know He cares for us.
